My peghead shape is evocative of old world shapes and even perhaps of the mountains where I live. It is a shape that requires hand shaping and carving as it does not lend itself to machine processes and that is the way I like it. I find it interesting to use choice woods to accentuate this shape, and I have settled into bookmatching figured woods for this purpose. All in all, it is a fun effort to work with natural woods to create beautiful shapes. Some players want dark and more restrained woods and of course I value that preference. Lately, I have started to make these shapes with softer edges for a more sculptured effect. Enjoy!
